My Windows Phone Game collection (September)

Since my conversion over to the lovely and promising Windows Phone platform, I have really been impressed by the amount of games that have been gracing the platform. These aren’t your run of the mill, no name apps that you may see in the past, but actual apps that are big in the iOS and Play store. Interestingly enough, some of these apps actually release the same day as other platforms or within the same week. Windows Phone users have it really good in comparison to the struggling BlackBerry ecosystem I recently had experience of trying out. At the same time, it doesn’t quite compare to the overwhelming amount of apps on the Play store, when I was rocking an Android. I think that we have a good balance, and Windows Phone is showing steady growth, (more…)


Terraria Now available for Windows Phone!

Terraria is now available for Windows Phone, and I am happy to be able to play it on my Lumia 1520! Terraria is a Minecraft style game where you are in a sandbox world and you have to dig yourself to riches and glory. One differentiating factor is that Terraria has quite a few challenging aspects to it including a decent crafting system, customization that is endless, and bosses, Bosses AND BOSSES. Multiplayer and PVP is an added bonus and I really have enjoyed this game and its growth since it’s launch back in 2011. (more…)


Road Redemption Brings the Mayhem of Road Rash to the Modern Age

Coming to Steam Early Access in the next week or two is Road Redemption. The game brings back the nostalgia for those of us that grew up playing Road Rash. The game is built on the Unity Engine so will run on most machines.  I have messed around in the pre-alpha build that is available through Humble to KickStarter backers and pre-orderers. Final Fantasy XIV a year later.

Square Enix has definitely turned the tides from a failure of a game launch back in 2010 to a now prospering addition to their popular “Final Fantasy” franchise with over two million players actively enjoying the game. It has been argued that the age of the “subscription MMO” model is done and gone, with remnants like WoW continuing to be based of the model and being extremely successful. What has made Final Fantasy XIV so successful despite being a Subscription based MMO? (more…)


Terraria digs its way unto Windows Phone Friday

Terraria a game that is similar to minecraft, that has been making rounds of attention since its release back in  2011. I personally bought my first copy off steam and was very pleased with the sandbox experience that included boss fights, crafting and digging… A LOT of digging!
