Microsoft Band Keyboard and Update impressions

Posted on: February 24th, 2015 by Gage Castillo No Comments

The Microsoft Band hits the headlines today as it gets a decent update with several welcomed features, the largest change being the keyboard. In this quick video impression, we will look at the messaging functionality, which allows you to reply to text messages in a quick and more detailed manner, than the pre-defined messages that it had prior to this update. I personally think this feature works really well, and opens up new paths for developers to take advantage of going down the road. Posted on: October 11th, 2012 by Gage Castillo 2 Comments

Hey everyone, iTunes finally updated our podcast feed so we now have episode 13 available for your enjoyment! Of course, there are a few hiccups with the audio quality, being live and having very little editing done you might notice my voice quality not coming through on certain parts of the episode. I am actively working on editing out sound interference from the other end of the call, so please expect an updated version of this episode as soon as I finish editing! Also, if you have missed this episode, and happen to be at the computer, you might want to watch the video version of the podcast on youtube!

Teamslice is finally back in action with a video podcast! Errr… kindof…

This time around, we actually spontaneously decided to do this one and in light of that we decided to do things a bit different! This episode includes a bit of techy, video game and bacon talk! We plan to roll this out in two phases, first being the youtube video, and second being the mp3 version on iTunes (we’ll have this ready around the start of the weekend)! <– Scott’s WordPress site, for Tiny Paperclip peeps!

Crunchyroll hits PS3! Anime lovers rejoice!

Around 7/31 anime fans around the world were surprised with the news that the Crunchyroll app finally was made available for Playstation 3. I know personally, I couldn’t wait to get home and fire up my neglected console system which gets more use from my family then me. After a few hours of enjoying anime with my newly converted  13 year old sister I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised with the app so far, but there are a few gripes with the app and the service.

About Crunchyroll:

Crunchyroll is an online video service and community that offers full-length episodes and movies of the very best in Japanese anime and Asian entertainment. Crunchyroll’s content is provided by Asian media leaders including TV TOKYO, Shueisha, Fuji Creative Corporation, Pony Canyon, Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation, Toei Animation, Gonzo, Munhwa Broadcasting of America, and many others. Let’s go ahead and jump in to the specifics after the break! (more…)

Square Enix shows off next generation graphics via realtime tech demo

Posted on: June 6th, 2012 by Gage Castillo No Comments

I’m always excited when we hit that time where we start transitioning into next generation graphics, technology and most of all consoles. Being the most popular way to gaming the console has always dictated how games are made, which technologies are used and how much horsepower (even for the PC) the software will utilize. So when we start talking next-generation we start to see game developers dabble in things beyond our current generation console.

Let’s level a second on the graphics engine used in this demo called the “Luminous Studio” and what it’s about. The Luminous Studio engine allows high quality “real time computer graphics” to be displayed at the same level as “pre-rendered computer graphics”. So basically elements like facial expressions, hair, clothing are no problem for this engine. I’m personally excited to see what types of things we can see in the future for Square Enix, Final Fantasy and many of the other games they plan to release in the distant future! Let us know in the comments what you think!
